Tanzania weather forecast for 24 hour

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority has issued a weather forecast indicating that most parts of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions on Monday, May 5, 2025, with isolated cases of rain, thunderstorms, and showers expected in various regions.

Over the coastal and island areas, including Unguja and Pemba, partly cloudy skies are expected with thunderstorms and showers in a few areas. 

The regions of Morogoro, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, and Pwani (including Mafia Island) will also experience similar weather patterns, with occasional thunderstorms and showers in isolated locations.

In the western and central regions namely Kigoma, Tabora, and Katavi residents should expect partly cloudy skies with a likelihood of thunderstorms and showers in a few areas. 

The Lake Zone, comprising Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Simiyu, and Mara, will continue to see partly cloudy conditions accompanied by localized thunderstorms and showers.

The southern regions, including Ruvuma, Lindi, and Mtwara, are forecasted to be partly cloudy with light rain showers in some areas.

 Northeastern highland areas Arusha, Manyara, and Kilimanjaro will experience light rain in isolated places under partly cloudy conditions.

 The southwestern highlands, which include Rukwa, Songwe, Iringa, Njombe, and Mbeya, will also record light rainfall in a few areas. Central Tanzania, particularly Dodoma and Singida, is expected to experience partly cloudy weather with chances of light rain.

Moderate winds are expected across the country, with speeds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour. In the regions of Kagera, Geita, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Mara, Tanga, Dar es Salaam, Pwani (including Mafia Island), and the islands of Unguja and Pemba, winds will blow from the east. Elsewhere including Kigoma, Tabora, Katavi, Ruvuma, Lindi, Mtwara, and the highland regions winds will come from the east or southeast.

Temperature forecasts for major cities show highs of 31°C in Dar es Salaam and 30°C in Tabora, Tanga, Kigoma, and Zanzibar. The coolest region will be Njombe with a high of 19°C and a low of 13°C. 

Sunrise times range from 12:24 to 01:01, while sunsets are expected between 12:15 and 12:55, depending on the location.

In the Lake Victoria Basin, partly cloudy conditions with isolated thunderstorms and showers will persist throughout the day.
