Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has reaffirmed the commitment of the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to invest in the mining sector as a means of economically empowering small-scale miners.

Speaking on Sunday, May 4, 2025, during a public gathering in Chingumbwa Village, Namungo Hamlet, Ruangwa District in Lindi Region, the Prime Minister announced that the Government has procured 15 modern mineral processing machines.

These will be distributed across small scale mining areas, and he urged miners to form organized groups to fully benefit from this initiative.

“The Government is focused on ensuring that small-scale miners have access to modern equipment to increase productivity and income,” he said.

Prime Minister Majaliwa also directed regional mining officers to continue identifying mineral-rich areas, formalize them, and issue licenses to small-scale miners so they can operate legally and efficiently.

“In addition, we have resolved that any mining areas with inactive or undeveloped licenses will be reclaimed, re-surveyed, and redistributed to small-scale miners,” he emphasized.

He further noted that the Government has acquired a specialized aircraft to conduct aerial geological surveys that will identify mineral types and quantities. “This aircraft will also cover areas in Lindi, including Ruangwa and Nachingwea,” he added.
