Simba Sports Club has confirmed that the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final against Morocco’s RS Berkane will take place on May 25 at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
In an official statement issued by the club's Chief Executive Officer, Zubeda Sakuru, the club revealed that despite extensive efforts by the Tanzanian government, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), and Simba SC itself to have the match played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, those plans have not materialized.
“As a result, the return leg will be held at Amaan Stadium, in accordance with the decision made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF),” the statement said.
Simba SC has called on its fans and supporters to remain calm during this period, promising to release more details during a special press briefing to be held tomorrow at the club’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam.
The announcement follows the team’s 2-0 defeat in the first leg of the final, played on May 17 in Morocco. Simba now faces a crucial 90 minutes on home soil to overturn the deficit and vie for their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup title.
The upcoming fixture marks a historic moment for both the club and Tanzanian football, as the nation prepares to host a continental final for the first time at the iconic Amaan Stadium.
