The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP), is expected to grace the climax of the National World Bee Day celebrations as Guest of Honour. The event will be held at Chinangali Park grounds in Dodoma City.

Announcing the event to journalists in Dodoma, the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana (MP), said the celebrations align with a United Nations General Assembly resolution that recognizes the critical role of bees in sustaining human life. The main commemoration is observed globally every year on May 20.

“We all recognize that bees and other pollinating insects play a vital role in food security and biodiversity conservation. In fact, 80 percent of all food crops depend on pollination by bees,” Dr. Chana stated.

She noted that despite their significance, bee populations are increasingly threatened by human activities. This year’s celebrations aim to raise awareness both locally and globally on the importance of protecting bees and conserving their habitats.

The 2025 theme, “Bees for Life and a Strong Economy Let’s Protect Them,” reflects the commitment of the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Dr. Chana further revealed that the four-day event will feature a range of activities, including live wildlife exhibitions and community bee festivals in various neighborhoods.

One of the key highlights will be a seminar on the beekeeping value chain, led by experts from the Ministry and other stakeholders.

In addition, there will be a special study tour for stakeholders to visit factories involved in processing bee-related products.

As part of the exhibitions, Apitherapy (Bee Therapy) services will be offered free of charge to all visitors. This health service is known to help strengthen the immune system.

“There will also be exciting tourism displays, featuring live wildlife such as lions, elephants, peacocks, and other animals,” added Dr. Chana.

She called on all Tanzanians especially residents of Dodoma and neighboring regions—to take part in the celebrations and join the Ministry in honoring this important national and global event.
