Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has officially announced that it will hold a Special National Congress on May 29 and 30, 2025, in the capital city, Dodoma.
The announcement was made today, May 17, by the party’s Secretary for Ideology, Publicity, and Training, Mr. Amos Makala.
Mr. Makala said the Special Congress will focus on three key agendas that reflect the party’s commitment to accountability, future planning, and internal reform.
“This Special National Congress is a crucial milestone for CCM as we take stock of our progress, prepare our next roadmap, and ensure our constitution aligns with current realities,” said Makala during a press briefing.
The first agenda will be the presentation and review of implementation reports on CCM’s 2020–2025 election manifesto.
These will be delivered by both the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
“It is important that party members and Tanzanians at large see how their government has delivered on its promises,” Makala emphasized.
“We will receive comprehensive reports showing achievements and lessons learned over the past five years.”he added
The second item on the agenda is the official launch of CCM’s new election manifesto for 2025–2030, which will guide the party’s policies and campaign strategies ahead of the upcoming general elections.
“This is the manifesto that will define our direction for the next five years. It will be our guiding light as we continue to serve the people of Tanzania,” he said.
The third agenda will involve minor amendments to the CCM Constitution, aimed at strengthening internal governance and operational efficiency.
In his remarks, Mr. Makala also urged all aspiring candidates vying for leadership positions through CCM’s ticket in the October general elections to familiarize themselves thoroughly with the new manifesto.
“We expect every candidate representing CCM to understand the manifesto deeply, because it’s not just a campaign tool it’s our contract with the citizens,” he stated.
The Special Congress will be preceded by two major internal party meetings. The Central Committee is scheduled to convene on May 26, followed by the National Executive Council meeting on May 28, both to be held in Dodoma.
“These meetings are part of our structured process to ensure the Congress is well-prepared and productive,” Makala concluded.
The Special National Congress is expected to bring together senior party leaders, national delegates, and other stakeholders from across the country, marking a significant moment in CCM’s preparations for the 2025 general elections.
