Jakarta, Indonesia – The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Ms. Jenifa Omollo, is leading a delegation of experts from Tanzania's Ministry of Finance in a high-level training program on public debt management held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The training, hosted at the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, aims to foster knowledge exchange and introduce best practices for managing public debt effectively.
It is part of the Tanzanian Government’s broader initiative to strengthen fiscal resilience and ensure sustainable use of both domestic and external borrowing.
“As a country, we are committed to enhancing our debt management frameworks in line with international standards,” said Ms. Omollo.
“This training gives us a platform to share experiences, learn from our counterparts, and refine our policies to better serve the economic interests of Tanzania.”she added
The sessions cover a range of strategic topics, including debt sustainability analysis, risk management, and transparency in debt reporting—areas that are increasingly crucial in today’s global financial landscape.
“Public debt is a powerful tool for development if managed responsibly,” Ms. Omollo added. “Our goal is to ensure that every borrowed shilling delivers value and contributes to inclusive economic growth.”
The training also aligns with Tanzania’s broader goals of capacity building within public institutions, particularly in areas that support economic stability and fiscal discipline.
“Our participation underscores the Government’s commitment to building internal expertise,” a senior official in the delegation noted.
“The knowledge we gain here will directly inform our work back home and help ensure prudent borrowing and investment.”she added
