The President of the Republic of Namibia, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, arrived in Tanzania on May 20, 2025, for a two-day official visit, scheduled to take place from May 20 to 21, 2025.
This marks President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first visit to Tanzania since assuming office in March 2025, following an official invitation from the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Upon her arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, President Nandi-Ndaitwah was received by Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Honorable Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo.
During her visit, President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to hold a private meeting with her host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, followed by official bilateral talks. These discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation between the two nations across various sectors.
Following the talks, the two Heads of State will jointly address members of the press to share the outcomes of their engagements.
Later in the evening, President Nandi-Ndaitwah will attend a state dinner hosted in her honor by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
On the second day of her visit, May 21, 2025, President Nandi-Ndaitwah is scheduled to deliver a keynote lecture at the University of Dar es Salaam and visit the African Liberation Heritage Centre in Dar es Salaam.
Tanzania and Namibia enjoy a longstanding and historic relationship, rooted in the shared values and solidarity championed by the founding fathers of both nations the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere of Tanzania and the late Dr. Sam Nujoma of Namibia.
This enduring partnership continues to thrive through various bilateral agreements and joint efforts within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
