The Minister for Minerals, Anthony Mavunde, has announced that beginning May 15, 2025, all key services offered by the Ministry of Minerals will now be provided from its new headquarters located in Mtumba, within the Government City in Dodoma. This follows the successful completion of the Ministry's modern office complex.

Speaking during a special address to the Ministry’s management, affiliated institutions, and staff, Hon. Mavunde expressed deep appreciation to the Sixth Phase Government for its commitment to strengthening the minerals sector.

This move marks a significant milestone for our Ministry. For the first time, all our services will be offered under one roof  efficiently, conveniently, and professionally,” said  Mavunde.

We thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her visionary leadership and for empowering this Ministry to realize such an important project.”he added

Previously, Ministry services were spread across multiple offices in different locations, a situation that created logistical challenges and inconvenienced stakeholders.

We are eliminating fragmentation. Stakeholders in the mining sector will no longer need to move from office to office to access services. Everything is now centralized in this facility,”  Mavunde emphasized.

Welcoming staff to the new premises, Deputy Minister for Minerals, Dr. Steven Kiruswa, underscored the importance of the building and its infrastructure in enhancing performance.

This facility is more than just a building. It’s a platform for transformation in how we deliver our mandate to the nation,” said Dr. Kiruswa.

With improved working conditions, we expect even greater efficiency and stronger results aligned with our sectoral goals.”he added

The Ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr. Msafiri Mbibo, praised the dedication of staff who continued to perform effectively throughout the construction phase despite the limitations of their previous working environments.

Our staff showed remarkable resilience and commitment. Their continued performance during a challenging period deserves recognition,” said Mr. Mbibo.

The relocation also fulfills a promise made by Minister Mavunde to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals, which visited the site on March 20, 2025, to assess the progress of construction.

The building was constructed by the National Housing Corporation (NHC) at a cost of TZS 22.8 billion, under the technical supervision of the Tanzania Building Agency (TBA).

This building stands as a symbol of what can be achieved through strong leadership, accountability, and collaboration among public institutions,”  Mavunde concluded.

With the new headquarters now fully operational, the Ministry of Minerals is expected to enhance its service delivery and create a more streamlined experience for all stakeholders in the mining sector.
