The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, has announced the appointment of Rashid Mijuza as the Acting Manager of Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

Mijuza replaces Mr. Malinde Mahona, who has been reassigned to the Ministry’s headquarters and promoted to oversee the management of all national stadiums.

Professor Kabudi made the announcement during a special inspection tour of Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and several CHAN 2024 training venues, including the Law School grounds, Gymkhana, and Major General Isamuhyo facilities.

He was accompanied by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary and Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, during the visit in Dar es Salaam.

“Mr. Mahona has been elevated to a new national role, where he will supervise key stadiums in Dodoma, Arusha, and Dar es Salaam,” said Prof. Kabudi. “Rashid Mijuza will take over his duties at the Mkapa Stadium to ensure continuity and progress in stadium operations.”

The Minister emphasized that Mijuza and Mahona will work closely together to finalize preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup Final between Simba SC and Morocco’s RS Berkane, scheduled for May 25 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

He confirmed that the stadium is ready for inspection and that all 14 CAF directives have been successfully implemented.

“We are proud of the progress made. When CAF inspectors arrive, they will see that all requirements have been met. This is a significant achievement for our country,” he said.

Prof. Kabudi concluded with words of encouragement for Simba SC. “The final will be played right here in Dar es Salaam. Let’s prepare to celebrate. We believe Simba will bring the trophy home after their match in Morocco.”
