The Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) has conducted a special seminar aimed at educating and motivating traders from Kariakoo to shift their focus from import-based businesses to local manufacturing investments.
The seminar, held on April 16, 2025, in Dar es Salaam, brought together over 100 traders who were given insights into the importance of investing in local industries that produce goods currently imported from abroad. The goal is to promote domestic production and reduce dependency on foreign products.
Speaking during the seminar, TIC Executive Director Mr. Gileadi Teri emphasized the importance of transforming the business mindset.
"This seminar aims to shift traders from importing goods to becoming investors who manufacture these goods locally, using the market they already have," he said.
The initiative is part of TIC’s ongoing efforts to promote local investment, especially in the Eastern Zone.
The program will be implemented monthly to continue empowering local traders with the necessary knowledge and support.
During the session, traders also had an opportunity to share their views and highlight challenges they face in the investment landscape.
These discussions are expected to help improve the business environment and enhance broader participation of the private sector in national development.
