The leadership of the Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association (DRFA) has expressed hope that the final of the CRDB Federation Cup will be contested by two teams from Dar es Salaam, ensuring the prestigious trophy remains in the city.
Simba SC is set to face Singida Black Stars in the tournament’s semifinal tomorrow at Tanzanite Kwaraa Stadium in Babati, Manyara Region.
Yanga SC has already secured their place in the final after defeating JKT Tanzania in the first semifinal, which was played at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, DRFA Chairman Lameck Nyambaya said the association is rallying behind Simba, with the aim of seeing both Dar es Salaam teams in the final.
“We’re heading into the second semifinal between Simba and Singida Black Stars, and as DRFA, Simba represents us. We'll give them our full support so they can win and join Yanga in the final. That way, the trophy is guaranteed to stay in Dar es Salaam,” said Nyambaya.
He added that Dar es Salaam takes great pride in its teams consistently competing in major tournaments. He acknowledged Simba’s efforts in reaching the final of the CAF Confederation Cup, despite not lifting the title in the match held on May 25 in Zanzibar.
Nyambaya encouraged the teams not to lose hope but to continue working hard and preparing for future international competitions, with the goal of achieving even greater success.
“Above all, we pray for our teams. I believe that one day, our clubs will win major trophies right here in Tanzania. When that day comes, it will bring joy to every Tanzanian and help put our country on the map in Africa and across the world,” he added.
