Reigning NBC Tanzania Premier League champions, Yanga, emphatically avenged their first-leg defeat by securing a dominant 3-0 victory over Tabora United in a thrilling encounter played today, April 2, 2025, at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.
Determined to make amends for their 3-1 loss to Tabora United on November 8 last year at Azam Complex, Chamazi, Yanga entered the match with a strong game plan and executed it flawlessly.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Israel Mwenda capitalized on a well-placed pass to slot the ball past the goalkeeper, giving Yanga an early advantage.
The opening 20 minutes witnessed an intense battle as both teams launched attacks while maintaining solid defensive structures. At halftime, Yanga held a narrow 1-0 lead.
The second half saw Yanga continue their dominance. In the 57th minute, Clement Mzize doubled the lead with a clinical finish, putting the visitors firmly in control.
Eleven minutes later, in the 68th minute, Prince Dube sealed the victory with a well-taken goal, ensuring Yanga walked away with a comfortable 3-0 triumph.
Late substitutions saw Abubakar Salum replace Clement Mzize in the 85th minute, while before the final whistle, Prince Dube made way for Farid Maliki as Yanga saw out the match in style.
As the referee signaled the end of the game, Yanga celebrated a commanding victory, exacting their revenge on Tabora United and strengthening their position in the league standings.
With this loss, Tabora United has now suffered home defeats to four teams this season: Yanga, JKT Tanzania, Simba, and Fountain Gate.
Meanwhile, in another league fixture, Fountain Gate endured a 2-0 defeat against Singida Black Stars in a match played at Tanzania Kwaraa Stadium in Babati, Manyara Region.
