Former and current leaders of Simba Sports Club have joined forces in support of the team’s crucial CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final second-leg match against Egypt’s Al Masry, scheduled for April 9, 2025, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Led by current Chairman Murtaza Mangungu, the leadership—including past executives—has rallied behind the team as it eyes a spot in the semi-finals.

Former General Secretary Hassan Hassanol, speaking during a press conference on April 7, called on fans to show up in large numbers and maintain discipline throughout the match.

“We believe Simba can advance. We are here as former leaders to stand with the current leadership and all Simba supporters in this important moment,” he said.

Former club chairman Hassan Dalali praised the players for their determination during the first-leg match in Egypt, despite the narrow loss.

“I want to tell our opponents—on April 9, they won’t escape. This is Simba! I believe in our players. Our goal is not just the semi-final; we want the trophy. We reached the final in 1993, and now we’re going for the win. God willing, we will triumph,” he declared.

Board Member Dr. Seif Muba highlighted the intense preparations underway, expressing gratitude to the Tanzanian Ambassador in Egypt and all fans who supported the team abroad.

“Even FIFA President Gianni Infantino knows this country’s slogan: Simba Nguvu Moja. We are united, and our slogan for this match is Hii Tunavuka (We are crossing this one).”

He added that despite the pain of the first leg, the players are motivated to deliver victory at home. “Our fans must turn up in full voice—remember, we’ve scored seven goals before at Mkapa. We can do it again.”

Simba’s CEO Zubeda Sakuru also echoed the call for unity and turnout. “We’ve set the stage for success, and we’re working closely with the government to ensure security on match day. We urge fans to respect all safety guidelines. This is our moment,” she said.

Former Chairman Swedi Mkwabi reminded supporters of the club’s strong home history. “The 12th player—our fans—have always been key to our victories at Mkapa. Let’s come together and push Simba through.”
