Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Secretary General, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel John Nchimbi, has urged Tanzanians to remain vigilant against political actors who may attempt to disrupt the country’s peace, unity, and democratic values, with just five months remaining until the October 2025 General Election.
Speaking to residents in Bunda on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, during his five-day working tour of the Mara Region, Dr. Nchimbi cautioned that election periods often come with heightened tensions marked by incitement, hostility, and provocation fueled by the reckless actions or remarks of some individuals, especially politicians.
“This year, you will hear many voices even those unaccustomed to speaking will try to stir conflict and division. Tanzanians must reject such people. We cannot allow the peace we’ve enjoyed since independence to be compromised just months before an election,” he emphasized.
Ambassador Nchimbi applauded the people of Bunda for being industrious and development-focused, stating:“When you come to Bunda and mention protests, the first question people ask is whether there’s bread involved. That mindset is what the entire nation should adopt development over disruption.”
He also called on citizens to ensure their voter information is up to date by registering in the Permanent Voter Register, enabling them to participate fully in the upcoming election.
Turning to the issue of compensation for Nyatwali residents who were displaced to make way for a wildlife corridor, Ambassador Nchimbi instructed the Mara Regional Commissioner to work closely with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, and the Ministry of Finance, to ensure that outstanding payments are made within 14 days.
“About 90% of the affected residents have already been compensated. Only a few remain, and some are disputing the compensation amount. I’ve spoken with the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, and he confirmed that the funds are available in the Treasury. I’m sending a message to Minister Mwigulu release the money,” he said.
Dr. Nchimbi’s visit covers the districts of Bunda, Rorya, Musoma, Tarime, and Serengeti. The tour is also aimed at reviewing the implementation of CCM’s 2020–2025 Election Manifesto.
