Mtibwa secures promotion as NBC championship battle rages on

The NBC Championship league is gaining momentum as teams fiercely compete for promotion to the NBC Premier League for the upcoming season.

Mtibwa Sugar has already confirmed their return to top-flight football after securing 66 points, making them the first team to clinch promotion. The spotlight now turns to the intense battle for the second promotion spot, with Mbeya City and Stand United neck and neck at 59 and 58 points respectively, each having played 27 matches.

In today’s action, Mtibwa Sugar continued their fine form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mbeya Kwanza at Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium in Mtwara.

Meanwhile, African Sports suffered a 3-1 defeat to Bogman in a match played at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi.

Stand United made a strong statement in their promotion quest with a commanding 5-1 win over Green Warriors at CCM Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga.

At Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita, Geita Gold capitalized on home advantage to edge Songea United 2-1 in an entertaining encounter.

In another match, TMA and Kiluvya United settled for a 1-1 draw at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.

With just a few rounds remaining, the competition is reaching its peak. All eyes are now on the remaining fixtures as teams push for a historic promotion to the NBC Premier League.
