As the world gears up to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, under the theme "Women and Girls 2025: Strengthening Rights, Equality, and Empowerment," the Ministry of Energy takes pride in its efforts to advance gender equality and empower women economically through access to electricity and clean cooking energy.

Deputy Minister for Energy,  Judith Kapinga, highlighted the Ministry’s achievements, emphasizing the government's commitment to improving women’s lives.

She noted that more than 33,000 villages have been electrified, while various clean energy programs have facilitated the distribution of approximately 402,000 gas cylinders, 200,000 improved cookstoves, and electric stoves.

According to her, these investments aim not only to enhance women’s well-being but also to increase their participation in economic and social development activities.

Kapinga further acknowledged the positive impact of the Free Education Policy, which has led to increased female student enrollment, while improvements in the health sector have provided women with greater access to quality medical services.

This, she said, has enabled them to engage more effectively in economic activities. She also praised President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for receiving the prestigious Goalkeeper Award, which recognizes her outstanding leadership in reducing maternal mortality by 80% and significantly lowering child mortality rates among children under five.
