Grassroots football coaching course begins tomorrow in Kigamboni

A grassroots football coaching course is set to commence tomorrow, March 31, 2025, and will run until April 4, 2025, in Kigamboni District.

The course, which is being organized by the Kigamboni District Football Association (KDFA), aims to develop and nurture more qualified football coaches at the grassroots level.

The course is expected to feature 25 participants, all of whom have confirmed their registration for the training.

These individuals, drawn from various local football clubs and organizations within the district, will receive comprehensive coaching training to help them build their skills and expertise.

The training is part of the KDFA’s ongoing efforts to enhance football standards at the grassroots level by ensuring that coaches are well-prepared to nurture future talent.

Issa Yahya, the course coordinator for KDFA, spoke exclusively to The Respondent Online about the objectives of the program.

He explained that one of the main goals of the course is to expand the pool of qualified coaches who possess the necessary knowledge and expertise to guide young football players.

According to Yahya, the KDFA believes that the development of football in Tanzania hinges largely on the quality of coaching available at the grassroots level.

He added that the success of Tanzanian football at national and international levels depends on nurturing talent from the bottom up, and this can only be achieved through quality coaching.

Yahya further emphasized that the course will not only provide participants with the necessary tools to become proficient coaches but will also open up further opportunities for them to advance their careers.

He explained that individuals who successfully complete the course will be eligible to attend more advanced coaching programs at both the national and international levels.

These additional courses, Yahya said, will equip the coaches with advanced skills that will enable them to better serve the football community in Tanzania and beyond.

“The knowledge and skills gained from these programs will not only help the participants advance in their coaching careers, but will also create opportunities for them to participate in various football activities, both in Tanzania and overseas,” Yahya stated.

He stressed the importance of such initiatives in providing Tanzanian coaches with the necessary exposure and experience to compete at higher levels.

Moreover, Yahya reiterated that the KDFA’s vision for grassroots football is rooted in the belief that football should be managed scientifically.

He noted that the days of informal, unstructured coaching are behind us, and today’s football teams must be coached by individuals who have received formal training.

Yahya highlighted that well-educated coaches are better equipped to introduce players to modern football techniques and strategies, leading to overall improvements in the performance of local teams.

“By ensuring that our coaches are well-trained, we are laying the foundation for a more structured and professional football system in Tanzania,” he said. “

Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every player, from the grassroots level up, receives the best possible coaching, which will, in turn, lead to better results for Tanzanian football at all levels.”

The KDFA is also calling on stakeholders, including local football clubs, sports organizations, and the government, to continue supporting such initiatives.

Yahya noted that the success of grassroots football development depends on collective efforts from all involved, including investment in education and training programs for coaches.

“We urge our stakeholders to continue to embrace these opportunities and encourage more people to get involved in grassroots football. This is the future of Tanzanian football, and we are excited to see where these courses will take us,” Yahya concluded.

The commencement of this grassroots coaching course marks another step in the KDFA’s long-term strategy to uplift football in Kigamboni and contribute to the growth of the sport across the country.

As the course begins tomorrow, it is clear that the KDFA is determined to make a positive impact on the future of Tanzanian football by equipping coaches with the skills they need to succeed.
