The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engineer Ambassador Aisha Amour, has called on the Ministry to prioritize science students, especially women, by providing them with opportunities for practical learning after graduation to help them achieve their goals.
During her visit to the Ministry of Works’ booth and its affiliated institutions in Arusha on March 7, 2025, ahead of International Women’s Day, Engineer Aisha emphasized the importance of applying knowledge in real-world scenarios.
“It is the Ministry of Works’ responsibility to ensure that women studying science subjects are able to apply what they have learned through various opportunities to achieve the goals that the country expects,” she said.
Additionally, Engineer Aisha urged the Contractors Registration Board (CRB) to closely monitor ongoing projects by contractors and provide training that will help them meet international standards, allowing them to compete globally.
“The government’s goal, through the Ministry of Works, is to empower local contractors. The CRB and other institutions must ensure we recognize, support, and address the challenges faced by contractors, especially women, through training and involvement in projects,” she added.
She also encouraged the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) to include female contractors in major projects, helping them gain experience and learn the best practices for successful project implementation.
