As the world gears up for International Women’s Day celebrations, over 400 women from government institutions and the private sector embarked on an enriching tour of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, marveling at its breathtaking landscapes and witnessing the famed "Big Five" wildlife.
Welcoming the group on March 7, 2025, Senior Assistant Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing Services, Mariam Kobelo, emphasized that the visit plays a crucial role in boosting domestic tourism and raising awareness about Tanzania’s natural heritage.
"As we approach International Women’s Day, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) seizes this opportunity to promote the diverse attractions within this iconic site.
Today, in collaboration with Tanzanite Cooperates, a tourism company, we have the pleasure of hosting nearly 400 women exploring and celebrating the beauty of our conservation area," Mariam stated.
She further underscored NCAA’s commitment to using such initiatives to inspire more Tanzanians to embrace local tourism, aligning with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of promoting the country’s tourism sector.
Elina Mwangomo, Director of Tanzanite Cooperates, highlighted her company’s strong focus on domestic tourism, explaining that they regularly organize tours to various national parks.
She noted that the Ngorongoro Crater remains one of the most captivating destinations, offering visitors an unmatched opportunity to observe a wide range of wildlife in a single visit.
"Ngorongoro Crater is a truly unique attraction, and it continues to draw large numbers of visitors. For years, we have been organizing tours here, and today, we are honored to guide a group of nearly 400 women on this remarkable adventure as we celebrate International Women’s Day," Elina remarked.
Among the enthusiastic visitors was Gloria Mziray from the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in Arusha.
She described the tour as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, expressing her delight at witnessing the area’s rich wildlife thriving in their natural habitat.
Similarly, Fatuma Abduli from CRDB Bank, a key supporter of Tanzania’s tourism industry, applauded the uniqueness of the crater and encouraged more Tanzanians to explore the country’s vast tourism offerings.
During their visit, the women, along with other tourists, explored key sites such as the Ngorongoro Crater and the Ndutu Plains, encountering a variety of spectacular wildlife, including the "Big Five"—rhinoceros, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and lion.
The grand celebrations for International Women’s Day will be held on March 8, 2025, in Arusha, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan expected to grace the occasion as the guest of honor.
