Vice Presdent attends farewell service for minister’s mother

Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Philip Mpango, and his spouse, Mrs. Mbonimpaye Mpango, today, February 6, 2025, joined various leaders and citizens in a farewell service for the late Sekunda Massawe, the mother of the Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda. 

The service was held at St. Pius X Catholic Parish in Tarakea, Kilimanjaro.

Delivering condolences on behalf of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, 

Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Vice President expressed the government's gratitude for the life of the late Mama Sekunda, who raised and nurtured Prof. Adolf Mkenda. 

He praised Prof. Mkenda as a dedicated and outstanding public servant, having served as a lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam and in various government positions.

The Vice President emphasized that the nation continues to benefit from the values of hard work and good upbringing instilled by Mama Sekunda in her children.

 He urged parents and guardians to make every effort to educate their children, instill good morals, uphold their faith with integrity, and work diligently for their own benefit, their families, and the nation as a whole.

Furthermore, he encouraged everyone to live in harmony with others and work hard in their respective roles to make a positive contribution to their families and the nation, leaving behind a legacy and exemplary history. 

He also reminded people of the importance of preparing for their return to the Creator, as no one knows the kday or the hour.

The farewell service was led by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Moshi, Most Reverend Ludovick Minde, and was attended by various government officials, including ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, regional commissioners, members of parliament, leaders of various institutions, religious leaders, and the general public.
