Procurement experts urged to follow ethical standards

Experts in public procurement have been urged to follow ethical standards when managing government projects to ensure public funds are used effectively.

The call was made by Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Said Mtanda, in a speech read on his behalf by Ilemela District Commissioner, Hassan Masala.

He was speaking at the closing of training on the Complaint and Appeal Management Module under the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST).

The training was organized by the Public Procurement Appeals Authority (PPAA).

Mtanda stressed that following ethical standards will not only help the government get value for money but also enhance the reputation of the procurement and supply profession.

It will also strengthen the trust in the Sixth Phase Government, led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“The electronic complaint and appeal module saves time and costs while making procurement more transparent and accountable.

Use this knowledge to educate others so they can also benefit from the system. I trust that those who attended this training will be good ambassadors for this module and PPAA,” said Mtanda.

PPAA Executive Secretary, Mr. James Sando, explained that after the government introduced the National e-Procurement System of Tanzania (NeST) and made it mandatory for public procurement, PPAA worked with the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) to develop an electronic system for handling complaints and appeals.

This system allows procurement stakeholders to submit and process their concerns online, making the process easier and more efficient.
