The Tanzanian women's national football team, Twiga Stars, will begin their training camp tomorrow ahead of their crucial 2026 WAFCON qualifier against Equatorial Guinea.
The match is scheduled to take place on February 20, 2025, at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Dar es Salaam.
The squad consists of 30 players, drawn from both domestic and international leagues. These players will be aiming to secure a place in the prestigious WAFCON tournament.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Bakari Shime, the team was officially announced on February 3, 2025.
The selected players include notable names such as Najat Abasi, Lidia Maximilian, Donisia Minja, Anastazia Katunzi, Christer Bahela, Joyce Lema, Janeth Christopher, Jamila Rajab, Winifrida Gerald, and Stumai Abdallah from JKT Queens.
Other key players include Aisha Mnunka, Vaileth Nicholous, and Janeth Shija from Simba Queens; Asha Ramadhani from Yanga Princess.
Marry Siyame and Winifrida Charles from Fountain Gate Princess; Ester Maseke from Bunda Queens; Asha Mrisho from Mashujaa Queens.
Noela Luhala from Asa Tel Aviv in Israel; Enekia Kasonga from Mazatlan FC in Mexico; and Diana Lucas from Trabzonspor in Turkey.
The team also features experienced players like Hasnath Ubamba from Masar, Egypt; Malaika Meena from Bristol City Women in England; Suzan Adam from Tutankhamun FC in Egypt; Aisha Masaka from Brighton & Hove Albion in England.
Maimuna Kaimu from ZED FC in Egypt; and Julieth Singano, Oppa Clement from Juarez in Mexico. Additionally, Clara Luvanga from Al Nasir FC in Saudi Arabia completes the squad.
As the team prepares for this vital match, expectations are high for them to give their best performance and make a strong bid for a spot in the upcoming continental tournament.
