A dramatic late goal by former Yanga star Deus Kaseke sealed a crucial 1-0 victory for Pamba Jiji over Azam FC in a tense NBC Premier League clash at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

Kaseke, who joined Pamba this season as a free agent, found the back of the net in the 88th minute after a perfectly timed assist from substitute Abdoulaye Yonta Camara.

Camara, who had replaced Habib Kyombo earlier, delivered a precise pass that allowed Kaseke to beat the goalkeeper and slot home the match-winner.

The victory marks Pamba’s second consecutive 1-0 win, following their triumph over Dodoma Jiji at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.

It is their fourth win in 18 league matches, complementing six draws and eight losses.

Despite a challenging season, the Mwanza-based side now sits 12th on the table with 18 points, keeping their survival hopes alive.

For Azam FC, the defeat ends their three-match winning streak and marks their third loss of the campaign.

The ice cream makers have played 18 matches this season, registering 12 wins, three draws, and three losses.

Since taking charge on September 7, 2024, Moroccan tactician Rachid Taoussi has overseen 17 league matches, winning 12, drawing two, and losing three. He replaced Senegalese coach Yousouph Dabo, who was sacked on September 3, 2024.

With 39 points, Azam remains in third place, trailing league leaders Yanga (45 points) and second-placed Simba (44 points).

The Chamazi-based side has scored 27 goals and conceded just nine, maintaining one of the league’s best defensive records.

As the season progresses, Pamba’s fight for survival intensifies, while Azam looks to close the gap at the top. The race for the NBC Premier League title is heating up, and every match counts.
