The government, through the Ministry of Works, has assured residents who gave up their land for the construction of the Ntyuka-Mvumi-Kikombo Road (76 KM) that they will receive compensation of TZS 7.4 billion once legal procedures are completed.
Speaking in Dodoma on February 9, 2025, Minister of Works Abdallah Ulega said the government has already paid TZS 20 billion as compensation for various road projects across the country.
He reassured residents that payments for this project will also be made.
“I want to assure you that once the legal process is completed, everyone will receive their rightful compensation,” said Ulega.
He also instructed the contractors, CHICO and China First, to return to the site and continue construction.
He emphasized that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan wants the projects to move forward without delay, and the government is providing funds to ensure timely completion.
Minister Ulega highlighted the government's commitment to improving Dodoma’s infrastructure. He mentioned major projects, including the construction of the city’s outer ring road and a six-lane highway from Chamwino State House to the city center.
Additionally, he directed the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) in Dodoma to fix potholes on Abdu Jumbe and Mvumi roads in the Kilimani area. He also called for the installation of streetlights to improve safety at night.
The Minister of Minerals and Member of Parliament for Dodoma Urban, Antony Mavunde, emphasized the importance of the Ntyuka-Mvumi-Kikombo road.
He urged the government to upgrade it to tarmac because it provides access to MVUMI Eye Hospital, which serves patients from across the country, and connects key areas of the city.
Dodoma District Commissioner Jabir Shekimweri, speaking on behalf of the Regional Commissioner, praised the government for the project. He noted that it has already provided temporary jobs for 201 local residents.
Engineer Mohamed Besta, Chief Executive of TANROADS, gave an update on the project. He explained that it is being built in two phases.
The first phase, covering Ntyuka-Mvumi-Makulu and Kikombo-Chololo-Mapinduzi (25 KM), is being handled by CHICO at a cost of TZS 38.1 billion.
The second phase, covering Ntyuka-Mvumi Hospital-Kikombo (53 KM), is being carried out by China First at a cost of TZS 98.4 billion.
