The Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism,  Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana (MP), has officially opened the Italy Design Week Exhibition in Dar es Salaam, showcasing works of renowned Italian designers.

She praised Italy for its strong partnership with Tanzania in tourism and cultural heritage.

The exhibition, launched on February 10, 2025, at the National Museum and House of Culture, will run until February 20, 2025. It aims to promote cooperation in tourism, history, and economic development.

"Italy has been a key partner in our efforts to promote sustainable tourism and preserve our cultural and natural heritage.

A great example is the Bawe Island project, which highlights sustainable tourism and demonstrates the positive impact of foreign investment on our economy," Minister Chana stated.

She also announced that Tanzania and Italy will host a Business and Investment Forum in Dar es Salaam in two days.

The forum will provide a platform for discussions and collaborations in sectors such as agricultural technology, the blue economy, the green economy, healthcare, and creative industries.

Minister Chana encouraged participants to explore new areas of cooperation and called on Italy to invest in Tanzanian youth by supporting their creative and innovative talents.

"Our country is not just a tourism hub but also a center for innovation and creativity. With the right support, Tanzanian youth can compete globally as leading designers and innovators," she emphasized.

Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Giuseppe Coppola, described the exhibition as an opportunity to enhance relations between the two nations, create job opportunities, and strengthen institutional ties.

Meanwhile, Mr. Giuseppe Manenti, the Trade Commissioner of the Italian Trade Agency in Nairobi, highlighted the significance of the exhibition, which features 44 photographs of distinguished Italian designers.

"This exhibition celebrates the winners of the Compasso d'Oro Award, reinterpreted through historical and modern photography.

It showcases photography not just as a documentation tool but also as a creative medium that has shaped Italian design," he noted.

The event was attended by officials from the Italian Embassy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, the National Museum of Tanzania, and key tourism stakeholders.
