The Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) volleyball team has sent a strong warning to rival clubs, urging them to brace for intense competition in the upcoming Dar es Salaam Regional Volleyball League (DAREVA).
After a brief hiatus from various league competitions, KIUT is making a determined return, aiming to reestablish its dominance in the regional volleyball scene.
Speaking about the team’s revival, KIUT Sports Coordinator Robin Msigwa expressed confidence in their preparations, emphasizing that they are coming back stronger and more competitive.
"We have already resumed intense training sessions to ensure that we are well-prepared for the new season. Our players are highly motivated, and we are focusing on both physical and tactical aspects of the game
," Msigwa stated.
To enhance their presence in the league, KIUT has introduced three teams—two of which will compete in the top-tier Serie A, while one, composed mainly of students, will participate in Serie B.
"Our goal is to provide a platform for players to develop their skills and showcase their talents. By expanding our participation, we are not only strengthening our competitiveness but also nurturing young athletes for future success," he added.
Msigwa also highlighted KIUT’s long-term vision, which includes establishing a solid volleyball program that fosters young talent and enhances the university’s reputation in sports.
As the new season approaches, KIUT’s return is expected to add excitement and raise the level of competition in the DAREVA league.
