Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner,  Albert Chalamila, today, January 25, 2025, led hundreds of Ilala District residents in a cleaning exercise along the Julius Nyerere International Airport–City Center road.

The initiative was part of preparations to welcome African Heads of State, who are set to arrive in Dar es Salaam starting today for a historic summit.

Chalamila emphasized that Tanzania is making history by hosting a major African Presidents' Summit focused on energy.

The summit, scheduled for January 27–28, 2025, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC), will not only raise Tanzania's profile but also bring numerous economic opportunities to the region and the nation.

He urged Dar es Salaam residents to seize these opportunities effectively.

He further stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness throughout the summit and beyond, encouraging residents to embrace cleanliness as part of their daily lives.

In preparation for the event, he announced that some roads in the region would be temporarily closed to facilitate smooth transportation for the visiting dignitaries.

Joining the cleaning exercise was Ilala District Commissioner,  Edward Mpogolo, alongside other district leaders, demonstrating a united effort to ensure Dar es Salaam is ready to host this landmark event.
