The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has been urged to strengthen its collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs to enhance Tanzania’s tourism sector by streamlining visa processes and expanding market opportunities.
The call was made today, January 14, 2025, by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land, Natural Resources, and Tourism, Hon. Timotheo Mnzava, during a session held in Dodoma.
"The Ministry of Home Affairs, including the Immigration Department, must work hand in hand with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to drive the growth of the tourism sector.
It is imperative to address existing challenges and provide greater support for this vital industry," Hon. Mnzava emphasized.
He further urged the ministries to harmonize payment systems for tourists, prioritize key markets, and develop robust strategies to attract more visitors while making the visa application process seamless and efficient.
In response, the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, reassured the committee of her ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
She emphasized that this partnership aligns with the vision of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to elevate Tanzania’s global standing as a premier tourist destination.
“We will identify and focus on key tourism markets, implement effective strategies to attract visitors, and ensure collaboration in achieving these goals,” Hon. Chana affirmed.
The session was attended by senior officials and executives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and its agencies, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Immigration Department.
