The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) has achieved a remarkable milestone, surpassing its non-tax revenue collection target for November 2024 by 13 percent.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on December 4, 2024, Treasury Registrar Nehemiah Mchechu announced that by November 29, the office had collected Sh 33.1 billion, exceeding the target of Sh 29.4 billion.

“This achievement reflects 113 percent of our monthly target, showcasing our continued efforts to optimize non-tax revenue collections,” said Mr. Mchechu.

The funds were drawn from Public and Statutory Corporations (PSCs) and companies where the government holds minority stakes. Key contributors included dividends, contributions to the consolidated fund, surplus remittances, interest, loan repayments, and remittances tracked through the telecommunication transfer monitoring system.

The Treasury Registrar’s office plays a pivotal role in managing government investments and ensuring the timely and efficient collection of non-tax revenues, vital for national development.

This latest accomplishment underscores the government’s focus on enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public financial management.
