Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, the guest of honor, echoed the President’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for strategic support to elevate boxing in Tanzania.
He directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Sports to strengthen partnerships with stakeholders to ensure boxers reap tangible benefits from their talents.
“Previously, sports were largely voluntary. Today, we have enacted laws that make this a professional field, ensuring players who sign contracts receive appropriate compensation,” said the Prime Minister.
He also called for improved training programs for coaches and athletes, noting that modern skills are essential for Tanzanian boxers to excel on global stages.
The premier highlighted the importance of creating more opportunities for women in boxing, urging stakeholders to actively involve and empower female athletes.
“Providing equal opportunities will allow women to showcase their talents and excel in the sport,” he noted.
He further commended President Samia’s leadership for driving significant reforms in the sports sector, enabling Tanzanians to fully participate in various sports disciplines.
The Prime Minister praised the successful organization of the ‘Knockout ya Mama’ event, attributing it to the dedication and cooperation of stakeholders committed to fostering societal development through boxing.
Minister for Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, also lauded President Samia’s contributions, emphasizing her pivotal role in revitalizing the sector.
“Her Excellency’s strong political will has brought renewed energy and enthusiasm, catalyzing growth across the sports industry,” said Prof. Kabudi.
Through her phone call, President Samia reiterated her support for the sports sector, pledging continued government efforts to promote boxing.
“I am aware of the presence of international boxers here, but I urge Tanzanians to fly our nation’s flag high,” she affirmed, inspiring the athletes and fans in attendance.
