The Judo Association of Tanzania (JATA) has announced that preparations for the highly anticipated East Africa Judo Club Championship are nearing completion.
The tournament is set to take place on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the Don Bosco grounds in Upanga, Dar es Salaam.
The event is being sponsored by the French Embassy in partnership with JATA, further strengthening ties between the two organizations.
JATA President Zaidi Hamis confirmed that most of the participating clubs from neighboring countries are expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam by Thursday this week. He added that the official weigh-in for athletes will be held on Friday.
“Our local teams are fully engaged in training at their respective clubs to ensure they deliver outstanding performances,” Hamis noted.
The championship will feature teams from Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), making it a regional showcase of judo talent.
With final touches underway, all eyes are on Dar es Salaam as it prepares to host what promises to be an exciting and competitive event.
