The National Volleyball Cup commenced with thrilling action as regional teams showcased their skills in matches played at Chinangali Park in Dodoma. The tournament began on Monday and will conclude on December 7, 2024, when champions in both the men’s and women’s categories will be crowned.
In the women’s matches, Dar es Salaam started strong with a 3-1 victory over Ruvuma, while hosts Dodoma suffered a 3-0 defeat against Mtwara.
In the men’s competition, Tabora swept Manyara with a 3-0 win, Mbeya edged past Dodoma in a closely contested 3-2 match, and Mara triumphed 3-1 over Dar es Salaam.
The Director of Administration for the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF), Riziki Godwin, highlighted the high level of competition and increased participation from regions.
“We have seen an impressive start to the tournament, with teams showing great preparation and determination. The level of competitiveness is set to rise as the games progress,” Godwin remarked.
Participating regions include Dar es Salaam, Dodoma (both men’s and women’s teams), Mtwara (women’s team), and men’s teams from Mara, Tabora, and Ruvuma.
This year’s tournament has brought excitement and promise as regions rally behind their teams, with the anticipation of fierce battles ahead.
