After a decade-long wait, JKT has emerged as the new champions of the Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball League for the 2024 season.
The JKT men’s team clinched the title last night with a 3-1 victory in the finals against UDSM Outsiders. The thrilling series concluded at Don Bosco Oysterbay court in Dar es Salaam, marking a significant comeback for JKT.
In their journey to the top, JKT dethroned defending champions Dar City, who were eliminated in the semifinals.
Speaking to The Responded Online, JKT head coach Christian Jacob attributed the victory to strong teamwork, youth development, and meticulous preparation. “This success comes from the unwavering support of our leadership, the players' dedication, and a commitment to nurturing talent,” Jacob said.
The win, he noted, was especially satisfying as it ended a 10-year title drought and reignited the passion of JKT fans. “First, we thank God for this victory. It has been a long journey since we lost the championship in 2014 when I was still playing. Since becoming a coach, this is the first time we’ve reclaimed the title,” he said.
Jacob added that the team is already planning for next season, aiming to build on this momentum.
He assured fans that the team is determined to achieve even greater success next year, promising strategic signings to bolster their performance and maintain their competitive edge. “We want to give our fans even more to celebrate in the coming season,” Jacob pledged.
