CHADEMA National Chairman Freeman Mbowe has reaffirmed his commitment to the party, officially announcing his re-election bid.

Speaking at a press conference with members of the party’s editorial board and journalists, Mbowe addressed recent appeals from party leaders across various regions urging him to continue leading the party.

“I remain steadfastly with CHADEMA and will continue to serve it,” Mbowe declared. “Today, I will collect nomination forms at the party’s headquarters to formalize my candidacy for the national chairman position.”

Mbowe highlighted the importance of unity and called for decorum during the campaigns, urging all candidates to maintain respect and civility. He emphasized that the party’s strength lies in solidarity and a collective focus on its vision.

“My appeal is for peaceful and respectful campaigns. Let each candidate present their ideas, keeping in mind that there is life beyond elections. CHADEMA requires unity, harmony, and discipline within its ranks to achieve its goals,” he stated.

Reflecting on his decision to seek re-election, Mbowe revealed that within the past 48 hours, he had received overwhelming support from religious leaders, institutions, and party members urging him to stay at the helm.

“Today’s CHADEMA has been built with blood, sweat, and tears. I have devoted 37 years of my life to this party, driven by unwavering principles and a steadfast commitment to its cause,” Mbowe said.

He also acknowledged the challenges the party has faced, including malicious intent, false accusations, and divisive rhetoric that threaten its unity. Despite these hurdles, he expressed his determination to forge ahead.

“Insults, slander, and efforts to undermine me have not shaken my resolve. My mission remains building a resilient and united institution. I often warn against hate speech, internal conflicts, and behaviors that jeopardize our unity. We must remain one,” he asserted.

Mbowe concluded by calling on members to focus on strengthening CHADEMA and fostering a culture of mutual respect. He reminded them that the party’s future depends on collective action and a shared vision.

His announcement sets the stage for a competitive election as CHADEMA members prepare to select their national leadership. Mbowe’s bid signals continuity and a steadfast commitment to the party’s principles and future aspirations
