Dr. Kazungu inspects key power projects in Dar es Salaam

The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Dr. Khatibu Kazungu, conducted a comprehensive inspection of critical power generation and transmission projects underway in Dar es Salaam. 

The visit aimed to assess progress and ensure the availability of a reliable and sustainable electricity supply across the country.

During the tour, Dr. Kazungu inspected several electricity substations and facilities, emphasizing their vital role in maintaining an uninterrupted power supply.

Key highlights of the visit included an assessment of the Ubungo I, II, and III natural gas power plants. Dr. Kazungu also reviewed the ongoing construction of a high-capacity transmission line linking Kimara, Ubungo, Mabibo, and Ilala, as well as the development of the Mabibo power substation.

In Kinyerezi, he inspected the operations of the Kinyerezi I and II power stations, along with the Kinyerezi I Extension, where a 175MVA transformer is currently being installed.

Additionally, Dr. Kazungu visited the Gongo la Mboto and Mbagala substations to oversee the installation of 120MVA transformers at each facility.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure to meet the growing demands of Tanzania’s economy. 

He praised the progress achieved in the projects and urged stakeholders to accelerate their completion to enhance the nation’s energy capacity and reliability.

Dr. Kazungu’s visit underscores the Ministry of Energy’s resolve to provide sustainable power solutions, a cornerstone for Tanzania’s continued development and economic growth.
