Tanzania to host SADC Poultry Industry Forum, showcasing investment opportunities

Dodoma – The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries has announced that Tanzania will host the Southern African Development Communityp (SADC) Poultry Industry Forum from October 16 to 17, 2024, a the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaapm. This platform will bring together member countries of SADC to discuss the poultry and livestock sectors.

Speaking at a press conference in Dodoma on October 11, 2024, on behalf of the Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Abdala Ulega, Permanent Secretary Prof. Riziki Shemdoe outlined the goals of the forum. He noted that the meeting will focus on enhancing employment opportunities both locally and internationally, while also promoting experience-sharing among SADC member countries.

“The forum will provide Tanzania with an opportunity to showcase investment potential in the poultry industry, expand market opportunities within SADC countries, and strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and other SADC nations in this sector,” said Prof. Shemdoe.

He expressed gratitude to the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan for prioritizing and opening investment opportunities in productive sectors, including poultry farming.

Prof. Shemdoe also announced that the forum will be followed by a national poultry exhibition, set to take place from October 18 to 19, 2024, at Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam. The exhibition will display various innovations and advancements in poultry farming.

The guest of honor for the forum will be Tanzania’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Mashaka Biteko. Prof. Shemdoe extended an invitation to all stakeholders in the poultry industry and the general public to participate in the events, which are free of charge.
