Shinyanga–Minister of Lands, Housing, and Human Settlements Development Deogratius Ndejembi (pictured center) on October 6, 2024, commended the Msalala District Council for their exceptional management of the Ntobo Secondary School construction project, which has been completed with no major faults and has resulted in a budget surplus.
Speaking during his visit to the school as part of his two-day tour of Shinyanga Region, Minister Ndejembi highlighted that the project, which involved the construction of seven classrooms, eight toilets, and one teachers' office, was of high quality and reflected the value for money. Notably, more than Sh 10 million remained unused from the allocated funds.
"I highly commend the Msalala District Council for their excellent supervision of this project. We have inspected the site, and there are no significant issues with the construction. The school’s quality aligns with the funds spent, and it’s even more impressive that over Sh 10 million has been saved. This is an exemplary model that should be emulated," Minister Ndejembi said.
Ntobo Secondary School Headmaster Mr. Hussein Mbwambo, also expressed his satisfaction, informing the Minister that the school now looks forward to using the surplus funds for further renovations. He requested permission from the Msalala District Director to utilize the savings to refurbish the school’s administrative building.
Regional Commissioner (RC) Macha expressed her gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued investment in development projects in the region. She noted that improvements in the education sector, particularly in infrastructure for students with disabilities and facilities for both teachers and students, had helped bridge the gap between private and public schools, making public institutions more attractive than ever before.
Construction of Ntobo Secondary School began in 2006. It is a day school offering education from Form One to Form Four, with a current enrollment of 577 students. The school also has a girls' dormitory with a capacity to accommodate 48 students.
Ndejembi was accompanied by Shinyanga Regional Commissioner Macha, Kahama District Commissioner Mboni Mhita, Msalala MP Iddy Kassim, and other experts. The tour will conclude with a public meeting in Segese Ward.
