The Chamanangwe grounds on Pemba Island are buzzing with activity as the Food Fair was officially launched on October 10, 2024, by the guest of honor, the Second Vice President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Hon. Hemed Suleiman Abdulla.

Running from October 7 to October 20, the fair is themed “The Right to Food for a Better Life Now and in the Future.” This event provides a platform for attendees to explore and learn about traditional foods sourced from the islands of Pemba and Unguja while also promoting nutritional education aimed at combating stunting in the community.

During the opening ceremony, Vice President Abdulla emphasized the fair’s role in showcasing indigenous food and its importance for health and nutrition. The initiative is designed to educate the public about the nutritional value of local foods, helping to address malnutrition issues prevalent in the region.

Additionally, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, Natural Resources, and Livestock of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar Shamata Shaame Khamis, commended the Bank of Tanzania and the Deposit Insurance Board for their participation in the World Food Day celebrations at Chamanangwe.
