Bwabuki Secondary School, located in Kitobo Ward, Missenyi District, is gearing up for the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (CSEE), with high expectations for its Form Four students. The exams, scheduled from November 11th to 29th, will see 109 students sitting for their final tests.
The school’s headmaster David Begashe expressed confidence that the students would excel, attributing their readiness to months of rigorous preparation. Speaking at the school's 36th graduation ceremony on August 10, 2024, Begashe noted that all students passed the MOCK exams, with Bwabuki emerging as the top government school in the district and the 58th regionally. "The students are well-prepared, and we expect them to perform with flying colors," he stated.
The school, originally a community private institution, was converted into a government school to better serve the wards of Bwanjai, Bugandika, and Kitobo due to operational challenges. Last year, the education facility saw 52 Form Four students pass their exams, with over 70% selected for Form Five and others securing spots in central colleges. The school has also achieved strong results with Form Six graduates for two consecutive years.
However, despite these successes, the education facility faces challenges, including a shortage of seven science teachers and a lack of essential furniture such as chairs and tables. The students, in their graduation speech, praised the teachers for their hard work but requested an IT teacher, noting the absence of one throughout their studies.
Nsunga ward councillor, Jamary Suleiman, who represented the chief guest, Missenyi District Council Vice Chairperson Domitian Nshekanabo, congratulated both students and staff for their dedication.
He assured the school that he would relay their concerns to the district leadership, pledging to donate one computer, adding to the two already available, though the school needs 10 to meet demand.
Parents and guests contributed Sh221,600 during the graduation ceremony, supporting the school's initiative to provide meals during the exam period. The contribution reflects the community's commitment to the students' success as they prepare to take their national exams.
Bwabuki Secondary School is hopeful that this year’s cohort will maintain its track record of excellence and continue to raise the bar in the Missenyi district.
