The Cheka Tu Comedy Show, which airs on Clouds TV, is set to take place at the Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam on October 5, 2024.

Speaking to reporters today, September 12, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, Cheka Tu's Director, Conrad Kennedy, emphasized that comedy is not only an art form but also a business and a source of employment, noting that many young Tanzanians have made a living through their talent in comedy.

Kennedy highlighted that the second season of the Cheka Tu show will be hosted at Leaders Club with tickets priced at Sh15,000, Sh30,000, and Sh50,000, making it accessible to a wide audience. "This event is expected to gather more than 10,000 Tanzanians, showcasing the significance of comedy in our country. It's part of our main campaign to ensure people experience comedy live, outside of their usual routines," Kennedy said.

Reuben Ndege, Head of Strategy and Innovation at Clouds Media Group, echoed Kennedy’s sentiments, stating that Cheka Tu has provided jobs for many young people who have joined the comedy industry and honed their skills to professional standards. "Art is employment. We need to recognize that. We have some of the best comedians in the country, and with this large platform, it’s a fantastic opportunity to promote themselves and enjoy the entertainment, not just locally but also internationally," Ndege added.

Ndege further stressed that the youth are now leveraging various opportunities, including their talents, with remarkable precision and skill. Through hard work, learning, and consistent practice, many have reached a level of excellence that allows them to earn a living from their craft.

"We have numerous talents who are seriously committed to this art of comedy. This dedication has allowed us to grow, both nationally and internationally. Our collaborations, particularly with Kenya and neighboring countries, are a testament to our progress. That’s why we want the entire nation to see how we are growing and evolving together," Ndege concluded.

The upcoming event is set to be one of the largest comedy gatherings in the country, drawing in not only local comedians but also international attention. With the rising popularity of comedy as a profession, the Cheka Tu platform continues to be a key driver in showcasing talent and providing a significant opportunity for young creatives in Tanzania.
