Shinyanga-The Deputy Secretary General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) for Mainland Tanzania John Mongella, has On September 6, 2024, addressed the CCM Central Committee members of Shinyanga District, alongside party delegates and ambassadors at the CCM District Hall in Shinyanga. The meeting was attended by a host of CCM leaders and government officials, including department heads from the Shinyanga Municipal Council.

Mongella's seven-day tour of Shinyanga aims to evaluate the implementation of CCM’s 2020-2024 manifesto and revitalize the party’s presence. During his visit, Mongella will hold both public and internal meetings to address the challenges faced by Shinyanga residents. 

His itinerary includes stops in Shinyanga Rural, Kahama, Msalala, Kishapu, and Ushetu, where he will engage with local leaders and citizens to enhance the execution of party policies for regional development.

The tour is strategically timed ahead of the November local elections and the 2025 general elections. CCM's leadership is ramping up efforts to solidify its base and galvanize support in the run-up to these pivotal elections. Mongella's visit is seen as part of a broader strategy by CCM to address local grievances, boost party morale, and rally members to participate actively in party activities and community issues.

Mongella’s assurance is backed by positive strides in fulfilling the manifesto's promises, suggesting a promising outcome for CCM. Currently, on a seven-day tour of the Shinyanga Region, Mongella has called on both regional and local leaders to concentrate on community development.

He emphasized President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ lives, particularly through timely agricultural input and educational support for farmers. Despite challenges such as a sharp decline in cotton production due to heavy rains last season, other crop yields like tobacco and rice remain robust. Mongella reassured that the government remains dedicated to meeting the 2020-2025 election pledges.

Highlighting the crucial role of youth, Mongella stressed their importance in national development, advocating for modern agricultural practices and technology to elevate productivity. He praised the government's infrastructure projects—roads, hospitals, and schools—that have bolstered public confidence in CCM.

In healthcare, Mongella noted significant improvements in service quality, including better availability of medicines, which have contributed to reduced maternal and child mortality rates. He also called for enhanced health education.

Addressing corruption, Mongella applauded regional leaders’ efforts against fraudulent practices, urging citizens to expose wrongdoers and support ethical leadership. Additionally, he highlighted environmental conservation, urging the Shinyanga community to engage in tree planting and protect water sources, reinforcing that environmental stewardship is a collective responsibility.

Mongella's visit, including his public address at Town Primary School in Shinyanga Municipality, underscores CCM's focus on grassroots engagement and strategic planning as the party gears up for critical elections.
