Dar es
Salaam. Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) has announced the appointment of Ms. Lilian
Mtali as the new Director of Retail and SME Banking.
The chief
executive officer of TCB, CEO Adam Mihayo expressed his confidence in her
extensive experience and leadership skills.
“We
believe she will be a great asset as we continue to improve our retail, small,
and medium customer services, he said in a statement issued on Monday (August
5).
A statement
issued by the TCB’s communication department shows the bank’s positive
impression to welcome Ms. Mtali who brings her 26 years of experience and expertise
in the financial services industry. Her experience is beneficial to the lender’s
management and leadership in retail and consumer banking operations, including
services for affluent clients, business banking, and digital banking solutions.
Before her
appointment, Ms. Mtali has worked with various local and international banks,
holding leadership positions in banks such as I&M, Standard Chartered,
Stanbic, and DCB, including roles such as Branch Manager, Personal Financial
Consultant, Client Relationship Manager (Priority Banking), Customer Service
and Quality Manager, Country Sales, Service & Product Manager, Business
Head for High Net-worth Individuals, and Head of Personal Markets segments.
TCB
expects to gain from her career as she has made significant contributions to
the growth and development of the institutions she has served.
“She has
spearheaded various bank-wide initiatives, including the alignment of retail
banking business, portfolio segmentation, the introduction of Private Banking
propositions, SME banking, Agency banking, Bancassurance, Custodial services,
and digital lending. Known for her leadership acumen, Ms. Mtali excels in
driving organizational change and culture transformation through effective
coaching and mentorship” reads.
Ms. Mtali
holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the International University
of America, London Campus, United Kingdom, and a General Certificate from
Modern Tutorial College, London, United Kingdom. She has also attended multiple
international leadership courses and seminars in the UK, South Africa, Kenya,
Zimbabwe, Angola, and Singapore.
