Simba stun APR to spice up Simba Day

By Our special Correspondent

Simba have wrapped up their annual Simba Day celebrations on top gear after stamping a 2-0 victory over APR at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

Both goals came in the second half from substitutes Debora Fernandes and Edwin Balua to give the Reds deserved success.

Despite unpleasant showdown from Simba in the first half, they bounced back strongly in the last segment after making several substitutions.

This enabled them to enjoy lion's share of the thrilling friendly match no wonder they excelled to find the back of the net twice.

However, at the stroke of half-time, Simba's striker Steven Mukwala missed a penalty as his lowly taken volley was denied by a side post.

The penalty came after Zambian attacker Joshua Mutale was fouled in the box prompting the referee to point on the spot.

However, as the first half elapsed, the hosting side registered no shot on target while APR had one shot.

The outcome is a good gift to millions of Simba members and fans within and outside the country who were curious to see how ready is their team ahead of the action packed new season.

In their next game, Simba will play against their traditional rivals Young Africans in the Community Shield semi-final match on August 8th at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
