Yanga strengthened their push for the NBC Premier League title with a commanding 4-0 victory over Kagera Sugar at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Sunday, November 1, 2026, climbing to second place in the standings.

The emphatic win took Yanga's tally to 25 points, allowing them to overtake Azam FC, who have 23 points, while leaders Simba remain two points ahead on 27.

Despite the scoreline, Kagera Sugar initially proved difficult opponents, matching Yanga's intensity during the opening 25 minutes in a closely contested start.

However, the hosts gradually took control and broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Peter Shalulile found the back of the net to give Yanga the lead.

Mohamed Hussein extended the advantage six minutes later, scoring in the 32nd minute to put Yanga firmly in control at 2-0 before the half-time break.

Yanga maintained their dominance after the restart, controlling possession and putting the visitors under sustained pressure as they searched for more goals.

Their persistence paid off towards the end of the match when Cheikh Touré struck in the 87th minute before completing his brace in the seventh minute of added time to seal a comprehensive 4-0 victory.

The result gives Yanga a timely boost in the title race, with the three points keeping them within reach of Simba at the top of the table.

With Simba on 27 points and Yanga on 25, the contest for the top position remains tight, while Azam FC will be looking to recover after slipping to third place.

For Kagera Sugar, the defeat underlines the challenge of competing against the league's established heavyweights following their return to the top flight this season.
