TANESCO customers advised to use LUKU agents amid vending system disruption

By The Respondents Reporter

TANESCO customers have been advised to purchase electricity through authorised LUKU agents after a technical fault disrupted vending services linked to mobile phone networks and banking platforms.

The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) said on Sunday, November 1, 2026, that the technical problem had affected customers seeking to buy electricity through the digital channels, prompting the utility to recommend alternative payment points.

In a public notice, the company urged customers planning to purchase electricity to visit authorised LUKU vending agents operating in different parts of the country as technicians work to restore the affected services.

The disruption could inconvenience customers who rely on mobile money and banking platforms to purchase electricity, particularly those who depend on digital transactions for quick access to LUKU tokens.

TANESCO said its technical teams were working to resolve the problem and restore normal services as soon as possible.

The utility apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.

The notice, issued by TANESCO's Customer Communications and Services Directorate at its headquarters in Dodoma, did not specify the cause of the technical fault or when the affected digital vending channels would be fully restored.
