Tanzania today honours the legacy of the Father of the Nation, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, as the country marks 27 years since his death, reflecting on the enduring values of peace, unity and solidarity that continue to shape the nation.

Mwalimu Nyerere, who played a central role in Tanzania’s independence and nation-building, championed unity and peaceful coexistence among Tanzanians, regardless of their differences.

These values remain important in maintaining national cohesion and creating an environment where citizens can work together towards a shared future.

As the country commemorates this milestone, Tanzanians are reminded of their collective responsibility to preserve, practise and pass on these national values to future generations.

Upholding peace, unity and solidarity is not only a way of honouring Mwalimu Nyerere’s legacy but also a vital step towards strengthening social harmony, promoting development and building a prosperous Tanzania for all.
