TanTrade targets new export links at IPU Assembly

Tanzania is using the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to promote locally produced goods and build new business links with international markets, as the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) seeks to connect local entrepreneurs with foreign buyers and investors.

TanTrade is participating in an exhibition running alongside the five-day IPU Assembly at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), where parliamentarians, business representatives and other delegates from different countries are gathering from October 5 to 9, 2026.

The authority's presence at the meeting gives Tanzanian businesses access to an international audience, with officials using its exhibition stand to showcase locally produced goods and explain opportunities available in the country's markets.

TanTrade is also promoting the Made in Tanzania brand, which identifies products manufactured in the country and is intended to improve their recognition in domestic and international markets.

The authority is providing information on available markets and the services it offers to traders and entrepreneurs seeking to expand their businesses.

The engagement is particularly important for businesses looking to move beyond Tanzania's domestic market, as international exhibitions and business networks can provide opportunities to identify potential partners and customers.

TanTrade said its participation in the IPU Assembly is also aimed at strengthening commercial networks between Tanzania and other countries and opening opportunities for Tanzanian traders and entrepreneurs to access international markets.

The authority is engaging members of parliament, parliamentary delegations, businesspeople and other participants attending the assembly, providing a platform to discuss Tanzania's trade potential and locally produced products.

The IPU Assembly brings together parliamentary representatives from countries around the world, providing a high-level platform for discussions on international issues and cooperation.

For Tanzania, the gathering is also being used to promote economic interests by placing its products and trade opportunities before an international audience.

TanTrade's participation reflects growing efforts to strengthen links between Tanzanian producers and overseas markets, particularly by creating networks through which local businesses can identify potential commercial partners.

The authority's engagement with foreign stakeholders could also help Tanzanian entrepreneurs better understand opportunities in external markets and build relationships that may support future trade.

With the assembly continuing until October 9, TanTrade is expected to use the platform to further promote Tanzanian products and connect local businesses with international stakeholders.
