By The Respondents Reporter

Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi has directed contractors and responsible institutions to speed up the implementation of road, water and electricity projects in Katavi Region, stressing that citizens should not be made to wait unnecessarily for essential public services.

Ndejembi issued the directives upon arriving at Mpanda Airport while travelling to Sumbawanga, Rukwa Region, to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the climax of the Uhuru Torch Race.

He also greeted residents who had gathered to welcome him.

The Vice-President emphasised the need for contractors to accelerate delayed projects so that communities can begin benefiting from Government investment in infrastructure and improved services.

On electricity supply, Ndejembi directed the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) to ensure that a transformer expected to provide an additional 50 megawatts of electricity is delivered to Mpanda by December 1, 2026.

The additional power capacity is intended to help meet growing electricity demand in Mpanda Municipality and other parts of Katavi Region, where reliable electricity is important for households, businesses and public institutions.

He further stressed that the promised improvements must be implemented on schedule, including the installation of concrete electricity poles to strengthen the power distribution network.

The directives highlight the importance of accountability in public projects, with contractors and implementing institutions expected to meet agreed deadlines and deliver quality infrastructure.

For Katavi residents, faster completion of these projects is expected to improve access to essential services, support business activities and create better conditions for economic growth.

The Vice-President's message was clear: Government investments h translate into tangible benefits for citizens, and delays in delivering essential services should be addressed promptly.
