Prime Minister Mwigulu Nchemba arrived in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the third Africa-Russia Summit, which brings together African and Russian leaders to discuss areas of cooperation.
The two-day meeting, scheduled for October 28 and 29, 2026, provides a platform for the two sides to review their relations and explore opportunities to strengthen economic, diplomatic and strategic cooperation.
The summit will be co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and African Union Chairperson, who is also Burundi President, Évariste Ndayishimiye.
Dr Nchemba was received at Domodedovo International Airport by Tanzania's Ambassador to Russia, Fredrick Ibrahim Kibuta.
Tanzania's participation in the meeting comes as African countries seek to strengthen partnerships with international partners in areas such as trade, investment, energy, infrastructure and technology.
The summit is expected to provide an opportunity for leaders to exchange views on shared priorities and explore ways of expanding cooperation between Africa and Russia.
