Tanzania’s indicative gold price has reached TZS355,709.20 per gram, according to the latest mineral prices released by the Mining Commission on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
The commission said the world market price for gold stood at $4,177.10 per troy ounce, equivalent to TZS355,709.20 per gram.
The indicative mineral market price for gold was set at TZS320,138.28 per gram, while the price at authorised buying centres stood at TZS313,024.10 per gram.
The latest figures provide a reference for mineral transactions in Tanzania and come as the government continues efforts to formalise mineral trading and strengthen the contribution of the mining sector to the economy.
The Mining Commission also issued new indicative prices for silver and copper.
For silver, the world market price was set at $61 per troy ounce, translating to TZS5,194.58 per gram. The mineral market price was TZS4,675.12 per gram, while the buying centre price stood at TZS4,571.23 per gram.
Copper was quoted at $6.63 per pound on the world market, equivalent to TZS38.71 per gram. The mineral market price was set at TZS34.84 per gram, with buying centres expected to pay an indicative TZS34.06 per gram.
The latest gold price is particularly significant for small-scale miners, who account for a substantial share of Tanzania’s gold production and rely on authorised buying centres to sell their output.
At the indicative buying centre price of TZS313,024.10 per gram, one kilogramme of gold would have a gross indicative value of about TZS313 million, before applicable charges, taxes and other adjustments.
The Mining Commission publishes indicative mineral prices to guide transactions and improve transparency in the sector, with prices varying in line with international market movements and other factors affecting domestic mineral trading.
